  • Overview

    Planview is seeking an experienced Director of Technical Accounting to serve as the technical accounting expert with respect to accounting policies, procedures and US GAAP application. This position manages the accounting for complex financing, acquisitions, 805 valuations, transfer pricing, intercompany transactions and global consolidation.  In addition, the Director of Technical Accounting identifies, documents, communicates and implements new accounting standards. The Director of Technical Accounting reports to the VP Global Controller and is located at our Corporate Headquarters in Austin, TX.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct technical accounting research and prepare memos to document positions
    • Responsible for implementation of new US GAAP, IFRS and Statutory accounting standards including coordinating with impacted functional areas, internal documentation and briefing external auditors
    • Communicate with management and FP&A on new accounting pronouncements and the anticipated effect on financial statements
    • Implement new or modify existing policies and procedures to increase effectiveness and efficiency in the financial reporting and accounting process plus to conform to new accounting guidance
    • Provide training on technical accounting issues across global accounting and finance teams
    • Collaborate with internal departments to identify and prioritize policy development and accounting research requests
    • Assist in the preparation of the annual financial reporting including disclosures for acquisitions and new accounting pronouncements
    • Work effectively with external auditors to discuss accounting positions, reporting requirements and new footnote disclosures
    • Provide high-level transaction-oriented accounting and reporting direction related to acquisitions, including due diligence, purchase price allocation and post-transaction support and integration
    • Be an involved leader with participation in weekly group meetings, 1:1’s, process improvement initiatives, and cross-collaboration

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
    • CPA required
    • Solid foundation of accounting concepts and controls under US GAAP, IFRS, and SOX
    • 7-10 years’ experience, preferably a mix of public accounting and private industry
    • Experience with multi-company and multi-location environment
    • Understanding of international accounting, including intercompany and multi-currency translations
    • Experience with US GAAP research and writing technical accounting memos
    • ASC 606 implementation experience a plus
    • NetSuite experience a plus
    • Advanced skill level of Microsoft Excel a plus
    • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills
